Communication is a puzzle, a riddle, whether through written or visual imagery.
I am fascinated with the idea of how to communicate through the different mediums we have available to us. This site, rickjacobs.com, is dedicated to written and learning communication, but is also the center of my communication universe. I often list myself as “Rick Jacobs, APC,” to denote my three passions and interests – Analysis, Persuasion, and Creativity.
I research intensely. I am meticulous in making sure that what I communicate from that research is clear and concise. But, I also make sure that what is conveyed is done so creatively. I research in order to understand, so that what I communicate is clear, but also subtle.
I have a background in critical analysis, photography, graphic design, and marketing. My disparate background includes military, law enforcement, and technology, which rounds out my interests in how different industries use communication to accomplish their missions. In my free time, I pursue other interests that I do not have experience with, such as science, foreign affairs, and politics.
My professional career in many industries, as listed above, give me a unique perspective in consulting change and learning, as well as a strong foundation as a disrupter and innovator. My other interests are fueled by my insatiable desire to learn and my never-ending quest for knowledge and understanding. I want to communicate what I hear, learn, and see through words and images – best if by both.
